Getting to Artimino - Flight & Train Routes

Our venue is approximately 30 minutes from Florence, the closest major city & capitol of Tuscany. There are no direct flights from the US to Florence and a connection is required. Google Flights is the recommended resource to use to find flights and compare multiple airlines at once. You can tailor your dates, flights, points of entry etc. and then book directly with airlines.

Our recommended route options:

Option A

1) Fly into a hub in Europe (common airports listed below) and take a short connecting flight to Florence

2) Taxi from Amerigo Vespucci Airport Firenze to Artimino (35 mins)

Option B

1) Fly direct to Rome

2) Take the train directly from the Roma Fiumicino Airport to Florence (1.5 hour ride)

3) Taxi from train station to accommodation or rent a car (35 mins)

Option C

1) Fly into in Rome, pick up a rental car & drive directly. (3.5 hour drive)

Detailed train information from Fiumicino Airport in Rome to Florence (Santa Maria Novella Station) can be found here: Italia Rail- Fiumicino Airport Rome to Florence

Rental car companies we suggest are EuropCar, Sixt, Rent Smart 24H and Enterprise. We have used each of these companies both in Italy & elsewhere in Europe and had great experiences.

Passports:

Passports can be renewed online and first time issue passports can be obtained at most post office locations. Double check this online with your local post office. It is important to note that in order to be valid for travel, your passport expiration date must not be within 6 months of your travel dates. For example, if your passport expires in November of 2026, it will not be valid for travel in June. Make sure to double check and be proactive about renewal, as processing times can vary. Currency: The Euro is relatively comparable to the US dollar. As of now, the exchange rate is 1 euro = $1.14. No currency exchange is needed, although we recommend carrying some cash for cafes and small businesses.

It is best to exchange either at your local bank before departure or at an ATM in Italy. All major US credit cards are accepted at shops, restaurants, hotels etc. In certain places, AMEX may not be accepted.
